A field trip to the Carnegie Science Center has been planned for all of the sixth grade students at West Hempfield Middle School. students will participate in an educational program that will correlate with their study of chemical reactions due to the combination of heat, oxygen, and fuels. In addition, students will be viewing the Omni max production of "Extreme Weather" and the planetarium production of "Stars over Pittsburgh." The students will also have the opportunity to visit the exhibits throughout the Science Center. All of the above mentioned are planned for the day but some of the shows could change between now and the day of the trip.
The field trip is planned for May 26, 2017. We will depart WHMS at 8:30 am and return in time for regular bus dismissal. The cost of the trip will be $30.00 per student. This can be paid for directly by parents or students will be given the option to participate in a fundraiser. We will inform students of the fundraiser as soon as we see how many students will be participating. "If you are choosing to pay cash the money is due by February 17th.
Students are asked to bring a bag lunch from home or purchase a bag lunch from the cafeteria at a cost of $2.75. the school lunch will include a hoagie, fruit, and a drink. Students can either pay with their lunch account or with cash.
