Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, the Hempfield Area School District is considering the consolidation of the three middle schools to two, with Wendover Middle and West Hempfield Middle Schools continuing to be utilized.  Harrold Middle School would then be used to house freshman students beginning in the 2023-2024 school year as the Hempfield Area High School undergoes renovations.  A parent letter was shared in this regard on April 12, 2022, and is available on the District’s website and using this link. 

We welcome parents and community members to join administration and school board members for an informational session regarding the proposed changes on Monday, May 23, 2022, beginning at 7:00 PM in the Harrold Middle School Auditorium.  The meeting will include a presentation on the rationale, benefits, challenges, and timeline for these potential changes.  While the meeting will not be recorded, the presentation materials will be posted on the District’s website on May 24, 2022, under “Our District,” then “Construction/Renovation Projects.”  

At a future date, a public hearing will be scheduled and announced using Remind, on the District’s website, and in the Tribune Review.  The public hearing will provide an opportunity for the community to speak before the Board of School Directors.  Formal board action may be considered at least three months following the public hearing.
